That extreme heat warning remains in effect until 8pm tonight. Make sure you’re hydrating and hiding in the darkest, coolest corners of your universe. My dog, who is either a medium or a large dog, depending who you ask, somehow fits into the 10 inch space underneath my bed, and she’s been straight up chilling in that makeshift cave to stay out of the sun. I can hear her snores rumbling from beneath the mattress. Spooky Szn indeed!
Highs will range from 94 – 98°F depending on your location, and the sun will be menacingly cheerful as it boils the asphalt. Luckily, with the sun setting a bit earlier, the evening will quickly get to temperatures of the 70’s and lows will bottom out around 68°F downtown.

“Hurricane Ian is rapidly intensifying as it barrels towards western Cuba, then later, Florida, just north of Tampa Bay. Cuba is expecting life-threatening storm surges and hurricane-force winds Monday night.
The storm may slow slightly as it tracks through the Gulf of Mexico — however this is not necessarily good news — as a slower storm has the potential to make flooding worse on the Gulf Coast of Florida.
Major hurricanes hitting the Tampa Bay region directly, are fairly rare. In fact, only five major hurricanes have tracked within 50 miles of the area since 1851.”
