The weather, currently.

Foggy morning, then a thin layer of clouds on a warm day

It feels weird to be talking about another warm, but calm, day in Los Angeles when I haven’t been able to escape the news of heat waves shutting down the UK. But while you’d probably prefer tomorrow’s high of 82°F to be 72°F instead, it’s really not that bad or unusual in our part of the world. You’ll get a cloudy morning to keep those temperatures suppressed, and when the sun starts to burn them away around 11 AM, you might still have a scattering of clouds remaining throughout the day. Our light wind will be a tad stronger than usual, so keep your windows open and allow a soothing breeze to curl under the pane. Fogginess will return in the evening and lows will fall to about 61°F.

What you need to know, currently.

The California wildfire, now called the Oak Fire, continues to smolder for a third day right outside Yosemite National Park.

The fire has burned more than 14,000 acres and led to the forced evacuations of thousands of people. It began Friday in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.

The Oak Fire is just another symptom of the extreme heat wave that has been blanketing the U.S., with many parts of California blazing in triple–digit temperatures. As the nation bakes due to human-induced climate change, drought conditions worsen and wildfires become more frequent.

Here is a GoFundMe that we can donate to in the meantime: Family home burnt to the ground in the Oak Fire.
