The weather, currently.
Temperatures suddenly jumped on Sunday, and that trend continues today, though it’ll be a couple degrees cooler. Highs are slated to peak around 89°F in downtown LA, with hotter temperatures in the valley and foothills. If you’re up a bit further, between LA and Santa Barbara, you could also get caught in fierce winds in the canyons. Though temperatures are above average, your skies are sunny and clear, so break out the sunscreen and enjoy the moment without thinking too much about our boiling planet. Spend more time outdoors in the evening, when temperatures will be refreshingly in the 70’s. Get to bed before the winds start to howl. Lows around 67°F.

The Senate passed the Democrats’ climate, health care and tax package Sunday.
The “vote-a-rama” started Saturday night and ended this afternoon. The final vote was 51-50 with Vice President Kamala Harris breaking the tie.
The bill, which is called the Inflation Reduction Act, plans to invest $369 billion into energy and climate change programs, with the goal of reducing carbon emissions by 40% by 2030. This is the largest climate investment in US history.
The bill also includes a plan to lower prescription drug costs, extend the Affordable Care Act program for three years and make the tax code more equitable.
The House is expected to consider it Friday.
