A temperate and sunny day for a 4/20 celebration

Today is an unofficial holiday in Los Angeles, one of the first counties to legalize marijuana. If you’re wondering where to stock up, I can sadly report that the Echo Park Film Center, a beloved institution a few blocks from my house, has been replaced by a dispensary.

If blazing it is your thing, know that you can have a full-on outdoor celebration on this lovely, temperate afternoon. The high will reach 69°F, the most fitting temperature for this meme’d day, and we’ll have plenty of sunshine and nary a cloud in the sky. A strong breeze will cary your smoke rings far away. Make sure to wear a jacket, because lows will hit about 52°F late at night.

We know it’s already mid-April, but an intense spring storm is bringing late, yet heavy snow across the Northeast region. It’s always a good time to brush up on your snow storm safety.

Meteorologists say that the best thing to do ahead of a snowstorm is to be prepared. Check to see if your shovel is usable and proceed to shovel the sidewalk and area around you. Make an emergency supply kit for your car, charge your devices and stock your fridge up with basic essentials. Then, as the storm passes, remember to check on your neighbors, make sure your pipes aren’t frozen, and restock for the next storm.
